Northland Health Care Access

Committed to providing access to health care to those in need.

Northland Health Care Access

Mission Statement

Northland Health Care Access seeks to ensure timely access to quality health care services for the uninsured and underinsured residents of the Northland for whom such services are unavailable or difficult to obtain.

Vision Statement

Through NHCA’s leverage of community investment, partnerships and advocacy, all Northland residents have access to quality health care services.

Summary and History of NHCA

In 1989, a grassroots task force completed a comprehensive assessment of primary health care needs for the uninsured residents of Clay and Platte Counties.  This assessment documented the very limited resources available for basic primary health for these residents.  Northland Health Care Access (NHCA) was formed in 1991 to coordinate advocacy and financial support to address this critical community need.

Since 1991 NHCA has invested over five million dollars through Northland health care providers to support primary health care services to Northland residents that are uninsured or underinsured.

From 1991 through 2005, Northland Health Care Access provided funding for a primary health care clinic to serve this population.  In 2005, NHCA expanded support to include funding for pediatric primary heath care services with Children's Mercy Northland and for women's health care services with the Platte County Health Department and the Clay County Public Health Center.

In 2006, NHCA conducted a comprehensive needs assessment to re-evaluate the needs of the uninsured in our community and to restructure our services to meet the changing heath care environment in the two county area.
Out of that have grown our five initiatives listed on "Our Programs" page.
