Who We Are:

NorthlandCARE/MetroCARE is a charitable healthcare program for residents of Jackson, Clay and Platte Counties. It is operated in partnership by the Metropolitan Medical Society and Northland Health Care Access with the support of a funding grant from The Center for Practical Bioethics. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Greater Kansas City partners with NC/MC in providing a non-payable electronic claims system that assesses medical costs for providing patient services.

What We Do:

We currently have over 460 primary and specialty care physicians who have joined our network and pledged over 2000 pledges of donated care to our uninsured patients. Our network also includes hospitals, outpatient surgical centers, labs, pathology, anesthesiology and imaging. All providers donate their services to our patients.

Program Benefits:

For the medical practice: Improves practice control of uninsured patients; patient eligibility and financial need pre-verified.

For the hospital: Referral network for uninsured patients. Fewer non-emergent and preventable ED visits. Fewer hospitalizations.

For the community: Improved access to medical care. Efficient distribution of uninsured patients. Better use of communtiy resources and a healthier workforce.
